Colleagues in the sector

People who have commissioned, delivered and evaluated educational work alongside Justin.

“Justin is an educator par excellence and a genuine leader. He has a well-deserved reputation across the sector for his thorough expertise in all aspects of education, senior leadership and curriculum development. He has earned both respect and popularity amongst the pupils, a rare blend. He is also a pleasure to work with, an easy communicator, professional throughout.”

Rabbi Malcolm HermanChief Executive, Seed UK

“I’ve worked with Justin in planning and evaluating educational projects. His personal touch, understanding, experience and analytical skills had a huge impact on educational relevance and impact. He’s had huge experience across many levels and areas of education. I’d highly recommend Justin!”

Rabbi Daniel FineDirector of Education, Seed UK

“Justin Kett is uniquely placed to advise on leadership and culture, given that he was the embodiment of thoughtful, decisive, and inspiring leadership and was responsible for inculcating a culture of respect, inclusivity, and joy at a school I was very familiar with and at which I had first-hand experience of his efforts. Justin was central to the school community, leading it and inspiring the children, and was regarded fondly by parents, colleagues, and others. I would certainly recommend Justin to others, based on what I saw of his abilities and his approach to education.”

Danny Stone MBEChief Executive, Antisemitism Policy Trust, and former parent

“I have known Justin for over fifteen years. Firstly in his capacity as a Jewish Studies teacher when he taught my daughters in primary school. As a teacher he always sought first and foremost to help every child reach their potential and made sure that they felt good about themselves. Our paths then crossed professionally when Justin was Deputy Head of a primary school and introducing Heads Up Kids (I am a co-founder and co-director). Justin was also responsible for PSHE and mental health in the school. I worked closely with Justin for many years whilst he embedded positive mental health in the school and ensured all children had access to positive wellbeing. Justin was driven to ensure all children were happy, confident and resilient. Justin was then a natural choice for us when Heads Up Kids became a charity and Justin joined us as a trustee three years ago. His contribution has supported the growth of the charity. Justin is an asset to children both educationally and pastorally and I highly recommend his services.”

Teaching colleagues

Those who have taught alongside him and seen the work at close range.

“Working alongside Justin at JFS, I quickly discovered that he is one of those irritating colleagues who has usually already thought about the thing you have just thought of and probably made a resource for it too. He brings an unusual combination of classroom experience, creativity and strategic thinking to Jewish education. He understands that a good curriculum needs intellectual substance, but also that no child has ever been inspired by a beautifully formatted scheme of work sitting in a folder. Justin cares deeply about what pupils actually experience: whether the learning is engaging, whether it means something to them and whether teachers have the tools and confidence to deliver it well. He is generous with ideas, resources and support, and is never afraid to question why we do something simply because we have always done it that way. Arba Anafim brings together exactly the qualities I saw in him as a colleague: experience, imagination, high standards and a healthy intolerance of educational nonsense.”

Parents

Families whose children he has taught, tutored and helped prepare.

“Justin is one of the most dedicated and inspiring educators I have had the pleasure of knowing. As part of the senior leadership team at my children’s primary school, and a subsequent teacher at their secondary school, he brought an exceptional level of care, thoughtfulness and commitment to everything he did. He has a genuine ability to understand children as individuals, nurture their confidence and help them develop a real sense of belonging within their school community. What particularly stands out is Justin’s passion for Kodesh and for nurturing a meaningful love of Judaism. He brings together educational depth with a deep appreciation of our people’s culture, history and traditions, making learning feel both engaging and relevant. His warmth, integrity and enthusiasm are infectious, and I have seen first-hand the positive impact he has on children, families and the wider school community. I would have no hesitation in recommending Justin to any school or organisation looking for someone who combines outstanding educational expertise with genuine care and vision.”

Rebecca EllisParent, Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School

“Mr Kett taught both of my daughters during their time at Sacks Morasha, and they both remember him with enormous warmth. He had a real gift for making Jewish Studies engaging, relevant and enjoyable, while setting high expectations and genuinely caring about the children he taught. Now that my daughters are older, I think we appreciate even more the foundations that teachers like Mr Kett gave them. Both went on to a leading independent girls’ school, and my eldest is now reading History and Economics at a Russell Group university. Their years at primary school helped give them not only knowledge, but confidence, curiosity and a willingness to think for themselves. As a parent, what always stood out about Mr Kett was that he knew the children as individuals. He brought energy and humour to his teaching, but behind that was a serious commitment to education and to helping every child flourish. He was also someone parents could approach and trust. We have very fond memories of his influence on our daughters, and I would have no hesitation recommending him and the work he is now doing through Arba Anafim.”

Victor PolakParent, Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School

“We were privileged to have Mr Justin Kett teach both of our children during their period at primary school. He was a kind and dedicated teacher. Justin combines a warmth and understanding of education and school culture that helped our children to thrive.”

Rachel YonaParent, Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School

“We’ve been lucky enough to have Justin involved in our children’s Jewish education from early on in primary school all the way up to the latter years of secondary school. Through his passion for Jewish learning and education, he has helped shape their connection to Judaism.”
